Frequently Asked Questions

What areas do you serve?
We proudly serve Loxley, Daphne, Spanish Fort, Fairhope, Silverhill, and surrounding communities. If you’re unsure whether you’re within our service area, just reach out and ask!

How do I get started?
The first step is reaching out by phone, text, or Facebook message with a few details about your needs such as your city, the services you’re looking for, and your dates. From there, we’ll confirm availability, make sure we’re a good fit, and then get you set up in our booking system so you can schedule your meet and greet.

What is a meet and greet?
A meet and greet is a short visit before your scheduled services where we meet you and your pets, review care details, collect keys or access information, and answer any questions you may have. This helps ensure everything runs smoothly while you’re away.

Are you insured and experienced?
Yes. Claire’s Critter Care is licensed, insured, and we have years of hands-on experience working with pets of all ages, temperaments, and needs.

Do you administer medications?
Yes, we can administer many types of medications, including oral, topical, and subcutaneous injections. If your pet has special medical needs, we’ll discuss details during the meet and greet to make sure we’re a good fit.

What happens if my pet has an emergency?Your pet’s safety is always the top priority. In the event of an emergency, we will contact you immediately and seek veterinary care if needed using the information you’ve provided in your profile.

Do you offer care for pets other than dogs and cats?
Yes! We care for a variety of animals including birds, reptiles, small mammals, and farm animals.

What if I need to cancel or change my dates?
We understand that plans can change. We do not charge cancellation fees and payment is not due until services have been completed. If services are canceled after payment has been made, the amount paid will be applied as a credit to your account for future services. Refunds are not issued for any reason.

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for holidays and peak travel seasons, since availability can fill quickly.

Will you also take care of things around the house?
Yes. We can bring in mail and packages, rotate lights, water plants, and perform small home-care tasks while you’re away so your home looks lived-in and secure.

How many visits should I book per day?

To keep pets comfortable and maintain their normal routine, we typically recommend a minimum of three visits per day for dogs, one to two visits per day for cats and small animals, and at least two visits per day for farm animals. We’re always happy to help you choose a schedule that best fits your pet’s needs

What makes Claire’s Critter Care different?

Claire’s Critter Care focuses on dependable, personalized care built around your pet’s routine not a one-size-fits-all approach. We prioritize clear communication, detailed visit updates with photos, and consistency so both pets and owners feel comfortable and confident. With professional experience, insured services, and a genuine love for animals of all kinds, our goal is simple: to provide the same level of care and attention we would want for our own pets.

Why choose in-home pet sitting instead of boarding?

Pets are happiest when they can stay in their familiar environment with their normal routine. In-home care reduces stress, limits exposure to illness, and allows for personalized attention while you’re away.

Why hire a professional pet sitter instead of asking a neighbor?

While neighbors and friends often mean well, professional pet sitters provide reliability, experience, and accountability that informal help may not offer. A professional sitter is prepared for unexpected situations, understands animal behavior, and is committed to showing up on schedule. Hiring a professional also protects your friendships from added responsibility or stress. With a trusted pet care provider like Claire’s Critter Care, you can travel knowing your pets, home, and routine are being cared for consistently and responsibly.

What should I look for in a pet sitter?

When choosing a pet sitter, it’s important to look for someone who is experienced, insured, dependable, and communicates clearly. A good pet sitter should take time to learn your pet’s routine, ask questions about behavior and health, and provide updates while you’re away. Reviews, professionalism, and a meet and greet before services begin are also strong indicators of quality care. Most importantly, you should feel comfortable and confident trusting them with your pets and your home. Finding the right fit makes all the difference in your peace of mind while you’re away!
